Our authors: Simone Di Maggio
Simone Di Maggio was born in Turin on 22 November 1976. He debuted in 2008 with the novel “I was six years and a half” published by Fazi – www.fazieditore.it, obtaining a great success of criticism and public. It is the autobiographical story of a victim of pedophilia, taken from his old blog. The success around this work has been aroused by the fact that the author himself is the first victim to speak freely without shame, trying to bring a message of hope to those who have suffered from sexual abuse and keep on living with this pain. His work has been reviewed by the most important Italian newspapers and magazines as: “Donna Moderna”, “Di Tutto”, “Il Resto del Carlino”, “Oggi”, “Il Secolo d’Italia”, “Unione Sarda”, “Trentino”, and hosted by several Italian broadcasting channels.
Review by the famous art critic Gian Paolo Serino published on “Il Giornale”:
"A narrative debut that is a cry of pain, a lucid and aware confession by Simone Di Maggio. Through a nervous writing, sometimes moving sometimes ruthless as life can be, Di Maggio tells, in the form of a novel, the consequences of “a particular attention" received when he was a child. A reworking of the abuses suffered that becomes a relief from the shadow of pedophilia and the revelation of a rare talent of writing. From the park to the outskirts of Turin of a violated childhood, squeaking of a swing, mothers screaming for joy in the shadow of a monster, a man whose caresses and apparent sweetness will live for years in the “dark places” of the protagonist's life . A moving book: written as a violin score between unpredictable scores of human monstrosity. The foreign publishing rights have been already sold in Germany and a film adaptation is in production."
